Dr. Davis,Just a quick question for you. Of the two supplemental books, which will be the first one to read. The book listed under assessments is not one of the books listed on our syllabus. I would just like to clarify please and thank you!Kay
Amusing the Millions is first.
hi my name is erin bartholomew and i am in your tues, thurs classes, i missed class today due to being ill and am afraid of falling behind. to add injury to insult i still have been unable to secure a copy of the syllabus from the website. if you could help me out with that before next tues. class i'd appreciate it. you can reach me at 832-444-5401p.s. if you don't remember who i am due to the mass of students you hae, i'm the blonde one that asked about the online classes after class on tues. hope to here from you soon
erin, i do remember you (but i'm thinking you're in my 9:00 class, which is 1301; maybe i'm mistaken). anyway, just read the first chapter of your textbook (ch. 1 for 1301; ch. 19 for 1302). when you come to class you will get help with the syllabus. if you have a laptop, please bring it with you if it's not too much trouble. till then, just relax, ok? :)
Erin, have you looked at this post? http://drdavidldavis.blogspot.com/2009/08/getting-started-with-lsc-online-all.htmlThis is a step-by-step guide to getting started, and it has pictures.
yes i am in your nine o'clock class, and i did find your syllabus. my laptop has just been cleaned and didn't have the adobe on it. thanks for writing back so soon, i appreciate it. another thing i couldn't do was the tutorial... it just seems like i can't catch a break hahaha. i will either bring my computer to class or a great pen or pencil. again, thank you for working with me on this and just fyi... i read half of the first chapter while working today. see you soon
i am in your tue-thur 1302 class at 10:30 and on thursday the si told us there would be a some what kind of outline for chapter that we could get from online and print out to be ready for class on tuesday but i cannot seem to find where it is..Elizabeth McGill
Lauren, those are lecture notes, and yes I used to post them to help students follow the lectures and prepare for the exam. I haven't lectured much lately, and I doubt that I will lecture must this semester, and I haven't posted my notes for that reason. I am trying a different approach, and let's see how it works out for this first unit. If I decide to go back to the lecture format, I will certainly post those notes for you. Jeevan and I go way back, and he remembers when I used lecture a lot. We have since discussed this new approach, and we are both excited about it. I hope it works out better than the lecture, and I think it will be more fun. See you in class, Tuesday!
ok i was just a little worried..i was thinking i just couldnt find it and was looking in the wrong places!! thank you!see you then
Dr. Davis, I have been reading Chaper 19, but I was actually wondering if we are going to actually be discussing any of it in class. I was also wondering that for our supplemental books since it isnt in our syllabus do we just replace them in the dates that the other books are in?
Yeah, just read "Amusing the Millions," and thanks for reminding me about that error on the syllabus. Regarding the chapter material, it is my intention that our discussions and class projects will be influenced by the reading and the quiz. In any case, doing your reading and taking the quizzes helps to fulfill the course learning objectives, while leaving us free to pursue "the long conversation" in class. It will all come together. It always does :)
Hi professor DavisI am Jacklyn and I am in your 1302 class on tue. and thursday and I was confused on exactly when the Unit 1 quizzes are due. On the syllabus it says ch. 19-22 is due sep. 14. But on the "Assessment" tab it says the quizzes are due on different dates. I was wondering which dates should I follow.Thank you
Hello, I am Cherylann, From what I understand about the due date for our first quizzes, we need to take unit#1 quizzes by next Thursday August 17th.
When are all the quizzes due by???
Cherlyann and anonymous, yes, we decided the Unit 1 quizzes would be due by the 17th.
Dr. Davis, Just a quick question i can't find the box where I put my paragraph narrative of cabeza de vaca.
